Care built on evidence, guided by humanity.
Synapsea began with a simple goal. To open a calm, clear path to mental health support when the usual one leaves you waiting. Wherever you are in Australia, care can reach you.

Telehealth that actually feels like care.
Many people do everything right and still hit a wall. They see a GP. They get a plan. Then they wait. Synapsea exists to open a calmer path. You work with your clinician, online, on a schedule that suits you. Where you live should not decide the support you can reach.
Our care is evidence-informed and grounded in established psychological approaches. We call our way of working structured warmth. That means care that is kind, and care that has a plan. We are clear about what each step involves and what comes next. Telehealth is not suitable for every concern. Your clinician may recommend in-person care, a GP review or a referral where appropriate.

Why Synapsea exists
Synapsea was founded by Faqrul Alam, following more than ten years working inside Australia's government health and social services systems. His career spanned Medicare (including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme), the Child Support Agency in High-Risk Case Management, the NDIS as a Participant Funding Planner, and the Aged Care sector as a Viability Support Program Officer for providers in rural and remote communities.
Across every one of those roles, the same reality presented itself. The people he was serving were frequently managing significant psychological distress, trauma, or undiagnosed mental health conditions alongside whatever brought them to the system. The mental health support they needed was either inaccessible, unaffordable, or months away on a waitlist.
Synapsea was built in direct response to that gap, by someone with firsthand knowledge of how Medicare billing operates, how NDIS funding intersects with mental health care, and what compliance looks like when it is taken seriously from the first day of operations rather than retrofitted later.

Is your clinician qualified and registered?
Yes. Your therapy and assessment are provided by a registered clinician qualified to deliver evidence-informed care. At Synapsea you work with one clinician across therapy, coaching and assessment, so your care stays continuous.
How does Synapsea keep care high quality?
Your clinician uses established clinical tools to set goals and check in on progress with you over time. Care stays grounded in evidence-informed approaches, with ongoing professional development and regular clinical supervision behind the scenes.
What's the story behind Synapsea?
Synapsea was founded by its Director after seeing the same pattern again and again. Capable people did everything right, then waited months for support that never seemed to come. Synapsea was built to open a calmer path, so geography and long waits are less of a barrier to quality online care.
Is Synapsea a crisis service?
Synapsea is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, call 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14, or go to your nearest emergency department. Our care is designed for ongoing, evidence-informed support over time.
Can I use Medicare with Synapsea?
If you have a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, a Medicare rebate may apply to eligible therapy sessions. Eligibility is determined by Medicare. Coaching and ADHD assessments are not covered by Medicare.
